Evrotrust, a leading European Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP), has secured 6.6M EUR in growth funding from 3TS Capital Partners to accelerate its expansion in Romania, bringing EU-grade digital identity, qualified e-signatures and remote onboarding to local businesses and public services. The investment, following the close of 3TS’s €111 million Fund IV, underscores Evrotrust’s plan to scale compliant end-to-end digital journeys for Romanian users amid rapid regulatory change.

The company is not a generic e-signature tool. As a Qualified Trust Service Provider under eIDAS, Evrotrust delivers remote identity verification (KYC/KYB), qualified electronic signatures (QES), electronic timestamps and electronic delivery services. It is an EU-notified eID scheme, audited and supervised at European level, and listed on the EU Trusted Lists with the highest assurance for qualified electronic signing in regulated and cross-border workflows. Today, the company supports over 2 million users from 61 nationalities and more than 200 enterprises, including 15 of Europe’s leading banking institutions.

“Trust is the new user interface. Evrotrust gives Romanian organizations a single, compliant platform to verify and sign digitally, while reducing fraud and unlocking cross-border growth.”, said Konstantin Bezuhanov, CEO at Evrotrust.

EU industry estimates point to e-signature spending growth from €2.33B in 2025 to €23.05B by 2032. Digital identity verification is also expected to expand at a robust, double-digit pace over the same period. In Romania, digital rails are already mainstream, 662,713 electronic ID cards were issued as of Oct 2, 2025, and ADR’s Government Private Cloud is budgeting RON 867.5M to migrate over 30 systems online. Meanwhile, the EU Digital Identity Wallets move from policy to implementation, making public-sector acceptance mandatory by the end of 2026, a clear runway for remote onboarding and QES at national scale.

“The new investment enables Evrotrust to scale EU-grade digital identity in Romania faster – localizing audited, cross-border trust services for banks, businesses, and the public sector. With a free mobile app and an EU-recognized qualified certificate at no cost, we make trusted digital transactions simple and accessible. Financial institutions benefit immediately from identity reuse across services, delivering faster onboarding and a smoother user experience. Proven in Bulgaria with fully online passport issuance, our secure and compliant approach now comes to Romania to put digital trust in everyone’s hands and accelerate national digitalization.” shared Valentina Dragomir, Country Manager for Romania at Evrotrust.

For Romanian businesses, Evrotrust’s expansion means faster, fully compliant onboarding and signing flows that cut abandonment and cost while meeting KYC, AML and eIDAS 2.0 obligations. Banks, insurers, fintechs, e-commerce, telecoms and utilities can consolidate identity verification, qualified e-signatures, timestamps and electronic delivery into a single, audit-ready platform with Romanian language support, EU data-residency options and sector-specific controls. Citizens benefit from simpler remote access to financial services and public administration, with cross-border recognition and stronger protection against fraud.

About Evrotrust

Evrotrust is a leading identity verification and qualified trust service provider with a mission to help businesses and governments digitally transform their processes and build sustainable digital channels. The Evrotrust platform is an end-to-end solution for remote electronic identification and digital signing with qualified signatures that enables users to register and authenticate for services using only their smartphone. www.evrotrust.com

About 3TS Capital Partners

3TS Capital Partners is a leading European growth capital investor supporting technology and innovation-driven companies. 3TS partners with exceptional teams to build category leaders across Europe, providing capital, expertise and access to an extensive network. www.3tscapital.com

BBVA has successfully conducted a pilot test for distributed quantum simulation in the cloud – a groundbreaking initiative in the financial sector. This test, carried out across multiple conventional servers using AWS cloud services, represents a big advancement in utilizing quantum computing for complex financial tasks.

During the test, BBVA utilized a proprietary architecture developed in collaboration with the Quantum Computing team at digital transformation companies VASS and AWS. They used Qiskit software to distribute the execution of quantum algorithms across several classical compute servers, thereby enhancing their computing power to simulate 38 qubits. This scale of quantum simulation is challenging to achieve with a single classical computer and allows for solving more complex problems.

Current quantum computers are experimental and, while they might not seem to pose much of a threat today, they may do so in the near future. With that in mind, we must protect the confidentiality of our data and communications until that future arrives.

Escolástico Sánchez, leader of Quantum Discipline at BBVA

Innovative Approaches to Security and Problem-Solving

BBVA is also a founding member of the Quantum Safe Financial Forum (QSFF), working alongside European and US financial firms to develop secure technologies against quantum computing threats. This forum, supported by Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3), fosters collaboration to build resilient financial systems.

The success of this pilot is not only a technical achievement but also a strategic one, showcasing BBVA’s capabilities in quantum computing. It demonstrates that classical computers can be effectively used to test quantum algorithms on a large scale in a controlled, noise-free environment. This advancement holds the promise of applying these technologies to real-world financial problems as quantum computing hardware continues to evolve.

Tuum, a core banking provider, has recently announced a strategic move into the Middle East and established a regional headquarters at the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). This expansion follows Tuum’s successful Series B funding round, primarily aimed at enhancing its global presence. The initiative highlights Tuum’s commitment to leveraging its next-generation banking platform to meet the needs of financial services companies within the region.

Tuum’s decision to set up its regional headquarters in ADGM, Abu Dhabi, places the company at the center of the Middle East’s financial and fintech ecosystem.

Our expansion into the Middle East, supported by our recent funding success, is testament to our commitment to bring this transformation to a region ripe for digital banking innovation.

Myles Bertrand, CEO of Tuum

The establishment of the ADGM office is seen as a strategy that not only brings Tuum closer to its Middle Eastern clients but also signals its dedication to being an integral part of the region’s fintech growth.

Core Banking Platform Improvement

The company plans to use the funds from the Series B round to further improve its core banking platform, tailoring it to the region’s regional-specific requirements. This includes deploying the cloud-native core banking platform in various configurations, such as SaaS (with the first regional deployment on Google Cloud in Saudi Arabia) and bank-hosted public, private, or hybrid environments. This flexibility is important for regulatory compliance across different Middle Eastern countries and leveraging the scalability of cloud deployments.

Building Local Presence and Partnerships

To facilitate its regional operations, Tuum is assembling an on-the-ground team of sales and industry experts who possess deep knowledge of the Middle Eastern financial landscape.

Opening our office at the ADGM is a strategic step that not only brings us closer to our Middle Eastern clients but also underscores our dedication to being an integral part of the region’s fintech growth story.

Myles Bertrand, CEO of Tuum

Tuum is strengthening its ties with existing partners like Deloitte and Publicis Sapient, which have a significant presence in the region, to offer tailored support to customers.

Endava, a technology services company known for its engineering and industry expertise, has released its Retail Banking Report, which reveals a significant insight: three-quarters of banks acknowledge the urgent need to modernize their core systems.

Despite 75% of financial institutions (FIs) believing they offer superior user experiences and technology compared to competitors, many are struggling to fully capitalize on new payment offerings and enhance cybersecurity due to outdated core systems.

Strategic Priorities and Technological Investments

The report highlights that while a majority of FIs have migrated their core systems to the cloud, they face substantial challenges in implementing, scaling, or managing these systems effectively. Key issues include:

competing technical priorities

a shortage of technical resources

fears of lengthy implementation times

concerns over fraud and security

Financial institutions are prioritizing efficiency (85%), customer retention (83%), and the enhancement of digital customer experiences (85%) as their top goals for the coming year. To achieve these, many are turning to advanced technologies like AI and data analytics, which are viewed as critical for improving internal processes and enhancing customer-facing products. AI and data analytics are particularly valued for their capabilities in real-time fraud detection and security.

Fred Fuller, Global Head of Banking at Endava, comments on the journey towards modern banking:

FIs have come a long way in embracing the fact that modern banking and a cloud-based core go hand-in-hand. Banks also recognize that migrating a legacy monolithic core to the cloud is not modernization. They need to leverage modern digital technology to truly modernize the core to create a flexible and dynamic infrastructure that can quickly respond to customer and market demands.

Thomas Jordan, Chairman of the Swiss National Bank (SNB), has voiced his opposition to issuing a retail central bank digital currency (CBDC) to the general public. During an event in Zurich, he highlighted that consumers and businesses already benefit from a wide array of efficient and innovative payment options provided by the private sector.

Jordan pointed out the substantial changes a retail CBDC could bring to the current monetary system, including the roles of central banks and commercial banks, which might lead to extensive consequences for the financial ecosystem. He believes the risks associated with a retail CBDC outweigh the potential benefits.

Retail CBDC could fundamentally alter the current monetary system and the role of central banks and commercial banks, with far-reaching consequences for the financial system.

Thomas Jordan

However, the SNB is actively exploring a wholesale CBDC, which facilitates transactions between commercial banks using central bank money, aiming to enhance the speed and reduce the costs of payments.

The SNB’s Stance on Digital Currencies

Thomas Jordan’s remarks underscore a cautious approach toward the adoption of retail CBDCs, emphasizing the importance of evaluating potential impacts on the financial system thoroughly. The SNB’s exploration of a wholesale CBDC indicates a more targeted approach to digital currency, focusing on improvements in transaction efficiency within the banking sector.

The Chairman’s concerns about the fundamental alterations a retail CBDC could cause within the monetary system highlight the complexities involved in introducing digital currencies. This caution reflects a broader debate within the global financial community regarding the best path forward in the era of digitalization.

The SNB’s trial of a wholesale CBDC suggests a keen interest in leveraging technology to optimize the existing financial infrastructure. This initiative might serve as a critical learning opportunity for the SNB and other central banks considering similar ventures, balancing innovation with financial stability.
