Revolut, the global fintech giant, has announced plans to increase its workforce by 40% in 2024, reinforcing its position as a major player in the financial industry. This growth plan comes as the company celebrates reaching 10,000 employees worldwide, a significant milestone achieved within just the first three months of the year. Revolut’s rapid expansion is set against a backdrop where many other financial institutions are implementing job cuts or freezing hiring.
Strategic Growth Amidst Global Expansion
Revolut began the year with just over 8,000 employees and has quickly scaled up, planning to increase its workforce to approximately 11,500 by year-end. The company’s growth strategy involves significant hiring across its Sales, Customer Support, and Financial Crime (FinCrime) teams, which will see the majority of the new roles. Francesca Carlesi, CEO of Revolut UK, emphasized the company’s momentum, stating:
Revolut continues to grow from strength to strength; to support that growth, it is essential that we recruit the best talent from across the industry. 10,000 employees is an exciting milestone, but we’re not stopping there.
A Remote-First Culture
As a remote-first business, Revolut leverages a decentralized workforce model that enables it to tap into a broader talent pool beyond traditional financial hubs like London. This approach allows the company to offer more flexible working conditions and attract talent from across the UK and globally. Over one-third of Revolut’s workforce is already based outside of London, showcasing the effectiveness of this model in a modern work environment.
In 2023, the company received over one million job applications globally and was certified as a Great Place to Workin eight of its markets, including the UK. These accolades reflect Revolut’s commitment to employee satisfaction and organizational culture which future employees can also enjoy.
As our home market, the UK is at the centre of Revolut’s growth, and is an integral part of not only the company’s expansion locally but also internationally. We look forward to welcoming the next batch of Revoluters over the next few months to help build Revolut across the globe.
